Internal Programs that Inspire, Promote, and Reward
Innovation (Montpelier Room)
Creating a sustainable company requires a breadth and
rate of innovation most observers believe can only
be accomplished by focusing the energy and experience
and liberating the creativity of all employees. In
general, however, employee-oriented initiatives seem
more likely to yield bottom-line improvements, including
operational efficiencies that fall within the scope
of most employees' everyday responsibilities, and
perhaps greater employee satisfaction and retention.
Less likely are insights into new, sustainable product,
service or market opportunities that can drive top
line growth. Yet sustainable competitive advantage
cannot be gained except through top-line growth. How,
then, might internal programs drive innovation that
grows the revenue base for the firm?
