This data CD was developed by the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) under their Reefs at Risk / Summit to Seas project collaboration. This compilation benefited from data contributions and guidance from many governmental and non-governmental organizations, including:

The goal of this collaboration is to support improved management of coastal resources in the US Virgin Islands (USVI) and Puerto Rico (PR) by developing and making available extensive information on watershed-based threats to coastal ecosystems.

The CD contains spatial data sets reflecting physical, environmental, and socioeconomic data for USVI and PR, as well as estimates of the vulnerability of land to erosion, and watershed-based indicators of threat from land-based sources. All spatial datasets have metadata. In addition, the CD contains technical reports on threats to and the status of the coral reefs in USVI and PR.

These spatial (GIS) data sets are best viewed using ESRI ArcView or ArcGIS software.
