Linda Shaffer is the Project Manager for The Access Initiative (TAI) Global Secretariat at the World Resources Institute.

The Access Initiative is a global network of civil society groups working to promote national-level implementation of Principle 10–access to information, participation, and justice in decisions affecting the environment.

Linda works to ensure that the Global Secretariat functions as an effective communications and administrative arm for the international network. She provides support and training to NGO partners using the online TAI methodology to conduct national assessments and build awareness in their countries. She also works with governments and international organizations to establish time-bound, measurable goals that aim to increase public access in national agendas. Linda is the Secretariat liaison for TAI activities in Latin America and Africa. This includes cultivating new ways for partners to engage in dialogue and share lessons learned through online tools, stakeholder meetings and training. Much of this work involves critical thinking about the impact of network activities and requires strategic planning to support, challenge and encourage alignment of common development objectives.

Before joining WRI, Linda worked with an Internet start-up company that focused on Latin American infrastructure. She holds an M.A. in International Studies from the University of Chile, and a B.A. in International Relations from American University.
