Jon Sohn is Senior Associate on the International Financial Flows and the Environment Project, and leads WRI's Financial Flows Objective. He works with commercial banks and public financial institutions on environmental and social risks and opportunities

Jon's career has focused on the environmental policies and risk management practices of financial institutions, with an emphasis on energy and climate change. His experience includes monitoring project finance deals in developing countries in the power and extractive industries sector, working with renewable energy companies for clean energy funding mechanisms and advocacy before the OECD, US Government and a number of international financial institutions. Prior to working in the environmental ngo community, Jon was Counsel and Environment/Labor Program Officer for the United States Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC). His work with OPIC involved the establishment of environmental policies in consultation with industry and non-governmental organizations.

He holds a JD plus a Certificate of Specialization in Environmental. and Natural Resources Law from Lewis & Clark, Northwestern School of Law, and a B.A. in History and communications from the University of Michigan.
