News releases

• 2005 February 17. "Millennium Ecosystem Assessment reports to be released starting March 30, 2005". The Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MA) will begin releasing its findings at March 30, 2005 press conferences at the The Royal Society in London, the National Press Club in Washington, DC, and in six other cities.

• 2004 March 16. "Experts Meet to Link Local Knowledge with Global Science ". This is the first conference that will try to link local, indigenous knowledge with global scientific studies.

• 2003 September 24. "Millennium Ecosystem Assessment releases first report". The report, Ecosystems and Human Well-being, lays out the approaches, assumptions, processes, and parameters scientists are using in the study.

• 2001 June 5. "United Nations launches extensive study of earth's ecosystems". The United Nations, scientific groups, governments, foundations, and other international agencies, launched the most extensive study of the state of the world's ecosystems

• 2000 September 7. "WRI welcomes U.S. support and satellite maps for new Millennium Ecosystem Assessment". The U.S. government provides support for the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment and donates a set of detailed satellite images of the world’s forests.
