News releases

  • 2002 March 11. "WRI welcomes major reductions of BP's carbon emissions". WRI welcomed BP's announcement that it has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by about ten million tonnes in the past five years and that in the future, it would peg its emissions at this new, lower level.
  • 2001 July 23. "WRI welcomes agreement of Kyoto Protocol rules". WRI welcomed the agreement on the rules governing the 1997 Kyoto Protocol, the first international treaty to require reductions in heat-trapping greenhouse gas emissions.
  • 2001 June 11. "WRI says Bush still does not take global warming seriously". President Bush's policy announcements on global warming are an enormous disappointment and show that the Bush Administration still fails to take global warming seriously, said officials at the World Resources Institute.
