• 2002 March 11. "WRI welcomes major reductions of BP's carbon emissions". WRI welcomed BP's announcement that it has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by about ten million tonnes in the past five years and that in the future, it would peg its emissions at this new, lower level.

• 2002 February 18. "WRI warns global warming endangers future Winter Olympics". Climate scientists estimate that half of the alpine glaciers could disappear in the next 100 years.

• 2001 October 23. "WRI, WBCSD release new business reporting standard for greenhouse gas emissions". The World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) released an international standard that will enable businesses to uniformly report their emissions of greenhouse gases.

• 2001 July 23. "WRI welcomes agreement of Kyoto Protocol rules". WRI welcomed the agreement on the rules governing the 1997 Kyoto Protocol, the first international treaty to require reductions in heat-trapping greenhouse gas emissions.

• 2001 June 11. "WRI says Bush still does not take global warming seriously". President Bush's policy announcements on global warming are an enormous disappointment and show that the Bush Administration still fails to take global warming seriously, said officials at the World Resources Institute.

• 2001 April 18. "New WRI Web site asks: How big is your CO2 footprint?". The World Resources Institute launched SafeClimate.net (http://www.safeclimate.net), a web site where visitors can take decisive action to address global warming.

• 2001 March 14. "White House decision on power plant emissions stunningly short-sighted". WRI reacts to President Bush's decision to renege on campaign promise to curb greenhouse gas emissions from powerplants.

• 2001 January 22. "WRI urges Bush to resume climate talks as new report warns of devastating global warming". WRI urged President George W. Bush to rapidly move for the ratification of the Kyoto Protocol and to resume the stalled talks to implement the international climate protection treaty.

• 2000 November 13. "New WRI study reveals potential benefits of climate protection policies for U.S. farmers". Report finds that implementing policies to address climate change will benefit U.S. farmers.

• 1999 May 28. "New report says developing countries' voluntary efforts to reduce CO2 emissions must be measured differently from industrialized countries". A study released by WRI addresses a key issue in this perennial debate-the nature of quantitative commitments to rein in greenhouse gas emissions.

• 1999 April 27. "Walking the talk: WRI announces commitment of zero net emissions of CO2 by 2005". As part of increased global climate protection efforts WRI announced commitment to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) to zero or better by 2005.
